It’s Been An Adventure Already

Nov. 16th, I took off for a new country and new experiences. I arrived in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on Nov. 18th. Nov 19th I took a 6hr ride to get to Siem Reap, Cambodia, where I’m staying for the next three months. It was a long, yet beautiful ride. You can really get a sense of how people’s lives are here just by riding through the towns and villages. There are times when it’s sad to see how some people have to live, yet they keep a great disposition. I’m from America and, although I’ve been to other countries before, it still amazes me how the Lord gives me a front row seat into the lives of others around the world. The experience is something you can’t always put into words, and pictures don’t really do it justice. The people of Cambodia are fun, gentle, happy, sweet and kind. They are also very patient (I’m still working on my Khmer language). It amazes me how, in America, everything is at our fingertips; but as soon as you step into another country (feels like another realm), you start to realize how we have everything yet a lot of us still complain. Reminds me of the Israelites after being freed from Egypt.

I’ve been to many countries and each time I see the good and the bad. The good always outweighs the bad. When you see people’s eyes light up when you tell them about Jesus and how much He loves and cherishes us…it’s as if you can spiritually see the chains fall off. There are a lot of people who need to hear that type of ‘Agape’ love exists. So many individuals walk around feeling unloved, or have a horrible/manipulated view on what true love is.

I’ve heard people tell me it’s not fair that there are so many who have to live in poverty, and others live a moderately good/really good life. I always think – maybe that’s not fair to the human mind; but if we try to see if from the Lord’s eyes, our perspective may change.

James 4:14 – For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.

Therefore, if we understand that our lives are merely vapors of what we think will last forever, then we can understand that we have a short time to let the world know about Jesus, our king. That’s why He sends us out and takes us out of our comfort zones into places far beyond what we could’ve imagined. This life doesn’t last forever, but He enables us to show others the eternal life in Him that WILL last forever. And eternity with Jesus, definitely not a vapor.
